Lancaster & Morecambe AC give us the latest from races in the North West of England:

Last weekend saw a small number of athletes from Lancaster & Morecambe AC take part in the Chernobyl 10km road race in Preston. Conditions were tough; the route was slippy underfoot in parts and there was a strong wind, but despite this the hardy runners put in some good performances.

In next was Steve Perry, running well in 44m.03 and Steve was followed by Bill Gardner with a strong run of 44m.57. Emily Stapleton was first female for the club in 57m.44, followed by Helen McGregor dipping under the hour mark in 59m.33. Husband and wife Richard and Linda Stapleton finished 13 seconds apart, with Richard running 1h.02.18 to pip Linda to the finish, with Linda running 1h.02.31.
