Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners have been in action on the roads again recently.
At the Wagon & Horses 10 mile road race first local club runner back was Phil Lowery, putting in an excellent effort to go under the one hour mark in 59m.35, taking first veteran 50 place and fourth overall. In next was Tony Jewitt, running strongly in 1h.03.58 to take 15th position and Tony was followed by Mark Holgate running 1h.09.24 for 34th place.
Other finishers:Ian Mercer 1h.12.32, Michael Roy 1h.13.41, John Spooner 1h.14.18, Andrew Haley 1h.17.41, Andrew Whitton 1h.18.54, David Wilkinson 1h.21.13, George Parrington 1h.28.27, Helena Lewis 1h.28.31, Michelle Whitton 1h.39.32, Keith Carman 1h.41.48. The organisers would like to thank the sponsors JWK solicitors and the marshals for their support.The third race in the Pilling 10k series saw a new winner, with James Mulvany from Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde taking top spot in 34m.43. Lancaster took the next three places; Ray Edgar was second with a super run of 35m.52, followed by Lee Parrington running well in 36m.15 and Phil Lowery with a good run of 36m.31. First local female was Liz Hickingbotton with a strong run of 49m.50, followed by Niamh Lewis in 53m.42.
The Welcome Tavern 10k in Preston saw Lancaster & Morecambe runner Steve Worthington take a clear victory, winning the race by 50 seconds with a superb 34m.05.
