The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, sent in by Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
Last weekend saw athletes from Lancaster & Morecambe AC taking on a variety of challenges.
At the Bolton Hill Marathon there was only one Lancaster runner brave enough to take on one of the toughest and hilliest marathons in the UK. Tracey Bruce endured the brutal 26.2 miles of hills to finish in a highly respectable time of 5h.41.07.
Taking on a quality field of runners at the Trafford 10km race was Lancaster’s Beau Smith, who gave a strong effort to finish 87th out of over 800 runners with a time of 34m.03.
A small number of Lancaster & Morecambe athletes took part in the Lancaster Duathlon, which involved the athletes doing two 5km runs with a 20km bike stage in-between. First back was Nick Higham who finished an excellent 48th overall with a finishing time of 1h.42.17. In next was Helena Lewis with a great effort of 2h.01.19 placing her 12th female overall. Nigel Beeson tackled his first duathlon with enthusiasm, finishing in a good time of 2h.17.14.
