The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, sent in by Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners found it well worth getting covered in mud last weekend at the new Muddy Shoes 5 and 11 mile races in Caldervale, taking victories in both events.
The 5 mile race was a close affair with three people crossing the line together; Lancaster’s Steve Perry with grand-daughter Shannon and Steve Burgess from Thornton Cleveley’s Running Club. All were given the same time of 1h.01.20, with Steve taking the win and Shannon taking second place, an outstanding effort from the youngster.
The 11 mile race was no less competitive at the finish line, with Lancaster’s Tony Jewitt taking a well deserved victory running the tough course in 1h.28.30. Team mate Sean Davis gave Tony a race to the line with a strong effort of 1h.28.31. In next was Melissa McGuire with a fantastic run of 1h.31 placing her first female and fifth overall. Other finishers: Andrew Haley 1h.32.50, Michael Leck 1h.38.26, David Wilkinson 2h.16.53, Paul Carter 2h.17.08, Carole Wilkinson 2h.17.12 and Billy Gardner 2h.49.55.
