The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, sent in by Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
Lancaster & Morecambe AC athletes have been representing the club at various races around the county in recent weeks.
The Blue Light Five mile road race in Bispham saw three members of the Perry family taking part. Jayne Perry was first back with a strong run of 37m.09, followed by Jayne’s niece Shannon, with the youngster running a fantastic 40m.43, just pipping her grandfather Steve to the line by one second.
At Hawkshead 10k near Ambleside Alan Clement was first Lancaster runner in 46m.26, closely followed by Michael Roy in 47m.01 and Chris McGuire in 47m.22.
Phil Lowery continued his good form at the classic Freckleton half marathon. Phil finished ninth overall out of over 600 runners, taking first veteran 50 prize with a solid effort of 1h.18.39. In next was Lee Watson in 2h.03.31, followed by Paul James 2h.10.42 and Lisa Preston 2h.17.22.
The Pilling Elletson Arms 10k saw David Brown run a strong race to finish second with a time of 36m.11. Liz Hickingbottom ran well in 48m.15, with Bill Gardner one second behind and David Winkfield finished in 54m.03.
The Lancaster Saturday night 5k series saw a good turnout from Lancaster athletes and first back was William Onek, running an excellent 16m.42 to finish ninth. Calvin Routledge ran well in 18m.04 to finish 28th and Gareth Richardson was next with a fine run of 18m.45. First female for the club was Jayne Perry with a great run of 21m.05 placing her 55th overall and close behind in 56th was Alex Mounsey in 21m.13. Other finishers: Jon Sear 18m.51, Simon Mounsey 18m.54, David Wilkinson 20m.50, Bill Gardner 22m.47, Liz Hickingbottom 22m.48, Carole Wilkinson 22m.57, George Parrington 22m.59, Clare Edgar 24m.02 and Alex Rizenko 36m.14.
