The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, courtesy of Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
There has been plenty of racing action for Lancaster & Morecambe AC members in the last few weeks over the popular 10km race distance.
The club held it’s own annual Three Bridges 10km race on 28th April from Salt Ayre Leisure Centre and as always there was a strong turnout of local runners amongst the 270 participants.
Winner of the race was Lancaster’s Daryl Hayton, with a fantastic effort of 35m.07 to take victory by just one second. In next was Kevin Wilson taking eighth place ahead of Thomas Lugrin, though both given the same time of 38m.03. First female for the club was Helen Booth taking third place overall in a great time of 40m.55 and Helen was well backed up by Jayne Perry in fifth place with a time of 43m.44 and Hannah Fleet in sixth in 44m.24.

At the Wray Scarecrow 10km first cub runner was Maria Snell, wih a superb run of 42m.20 placing her 20th out of 91 finishers. In next was Heather Beattie with a good run of 47m.06 and Nikki Kay close behind in 47m.39. Other finishers: Sarah Ellliott 49m.34, Graham Jameson 52m.16, Bill Gardner and Anne Dareys 54m.52, Jane Hylton 58m.37 and Helen McGregor 58m.59.
The first in the new Pilling 10k series was held on the 1st May and a small group of runners turned out for the new event. Winner of the race was Horwich RMI runner Paul Muller in a time of 35m.59. Lancaster & Morecambe’s Allan Gordon took second prize with a good effort of 37m.56 and in sixth position was Bill Gardner in 45m.20.
At the Dallam Dash 10k in Milinthorpe there were 70 finishers and first back for Lancaster was Andrew Haley, running well in 46m.57 for 24th place. Next was David Wilkinson in a good time of 48m.14, followed by Mike Peat in 50m.14, Ian Mitchell in 50m.18 and Carole Wilkinson 50m.31.
The Sherriff 10k was held in Scorton and attracted over 150 runners, with first local back Sean Davis running well to take 13th place in 40m.37. In next was Steven Jenkinson in 43m.06 and Peter Sariwee followed in 43m.35. First woman for the club was Louise Goddard, who out in a great run to take first veteran 45 place in 44m.17. Louise was backed up by Helena Lewis in 53m.53 and Julia Possener in 1h.02.32. Other finishers: Andrew Whitton 44m.54, Duncan Orme 47m.40 and Charlie Satterly 50m.57.
At the Alan Seddon Thank You 10k race in Blackpool Tony Jewitt had an excellent run, finishing 17th overall out of almost 150 finishers in 38m.42. In next was Michael Roy in 40m.30, followed by father and daughter Stever and Jayne Perry running well in 43m.26.
