The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, sent in by Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
Lancaster & Morecambe AC athletes turned out in force at local road races recently.
At the Sherriff 10k near Preston first Lancaster runner was Mark Leadbetter who ran well in 38m.43 to finish seventh overall of 122 finishers. In next was Nikki Kay, with a fantastic effort of 44m.46 placing her 37th overall, followed by Andrew Whitton running a good time of 46m.16. Louise Goddard had a strong run, finishing in 46m.21 to take first veteran 45 place in 45th overall. Youngster Shannon Perry ran a creditable 52m.19 on her 10k debut.
Other finishers: David Wilkinson 46m.37, Chris McGuire 46m.42, Billy Gardner 48m.36, Charlie Satterly 50m.18, Steve Perry 52m.23, Carole Wilkinson first veteran 50 in 52m.24, Helena Lewis 52m.36, Kara Atkinson 56m.56, Michelle Whitton 57m.44, Anthony Mayson 58m.27 and Liz Smith first veteran 55 in 1h.01.36.
The ever popular Ripley School 4 mile Fun Run saw a massive turnout of Lancaster runners; first back across the line for the club was youngster Niall Graham with an excellent effort of 25m.28 placing him 10th overall. Following close behind was Jon Sear with a fine run of 25m.32 for 12th place and Jim Stewart had a great run to finish first veteran 55 in 26m.34. Hannah Fleet had a super run to win the women’s race with a time of 27m.21 placing her 20th overall and she was well backed up by teammates Sarah Elliott who finished third woman in 28m.55 and Carole Wilkinson who was first veteran 50 in 31m.38.
