The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, sent in by Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
Athletes from Lancaster & Morecambe AC have raced into the New Year, with many taking part in local events in the last few weeks.
On the 5th January at the Central Lancashire Half Marathon, first Lancaster runner to finish was Tony Jewitt who finished well up the field of 418 in 15th place, with an excellent effort of 1h.22.50. In next was Joanne Taylor, with a super run of 1h.32.32. A trio of runners finished together with Liz Hickingbotham 1h.54.43, David Dann 1h.54.44 and Bill Gardner 1h.54.47.
There was a mass turnout of local runners at the ever popular Garstang 10km on 12th January. Phil Lowery continued his fine form with a great run of 36m.06, finishing 13th of 483 athletes and taking first veteran 50 place. Phil was backed up by team-mates Mark Holgate in 40th, running well in 38m.05 and in 46th Tony Jewitt, with a strong run of 38m.27.
Maria Snell was first Lancaster female and she had a fantastic run, finishing third female in 39m.12. Louise Goddard ran well in 43m.39 finishing second veteran 45 and Chris McGuire was next with a good run of 45m.25 finishing second veteran 50.
