A large number of Lancaster & Morecambe AC athletes took part in the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool last weekend. The two lap course uses large parts of the sea-front and the runners had to battle twice against a severe head wind.
First back for the club was Phil Lowery, with a fantastic effort in the conditions placing him 23rd overall out of over 1300 runners in a super time of 1h.21.38. In next was Peter Twigg with a strong run of 1h.25.05 in 45th position. In next was Joanne Taylor with an excellent run of 1h.36.56 putting her in the top 200. Andrew Haley was next with a good run of 1h.38.42.
Other finishers: David Wilkinson 1h.43.29, Michael Roy 1h.50.01, Charlie Satterly 1h.50.36, Angus Greenwood 1h.52.32, Lizzie Hickingbotham and Billy Gardner 1h.52.52, Tracey Bruce 1h.58.11, Nigel Hodgson 2h.13.16 and Julia Possener 2h.17.19.
