The latest on the club runners from Lancaster & Morecambe AC, sent in by Road Captain, Louise Gardner:
Lancaster & Morecambe AC runners took advantage of the Easter break to fit in some races and came away with some excellent results.
At the Salford Good Friday 10k two Lancaster runner took part; Daryl Hayton had a superb run to finish 34th in a quality field, recording a fast time of 33m.34. Louise Gardner took second female prize and finished 56th overall with a strong run giving her a time of 35m.13.
Also on Good Friday was the ever popular Caldervale 10 mile race, which is known for it’s scenic but challenging route over the hills of the area. First back for the club was Ian Richardson, finishing well in a time of 1h.13.16 to place 33rd overall. Two places behind was Nick Hisham with a good time of 1h.14.13 and next was Melissa McGuire who had a great run of 1h.16.59 to finish 47th overall. Two runners finished first in their respective age categories; Mike Codd was first veteran 70 with a super run of 1h.24.26 and Evelyn Elkington was first veteran 75 with an excellent 1h.45.47.
Other finishers: Mick Leck 1h.17.21, Andrew John 1h.17.54, John Spooner 1h.19.27, Graham Lawton 1h.24.20, Emily Stapleton 1h.31.53, Liz Hickingbottom 1h.38.50, Linda Stapleton 1h.41.30.
The following day saw a good turnout at the Valiants Half Marathon in Preston, with over 100 runners. First Lancaster runner was Andrew Haley, with a good effort of 1h.40.21 placing him 61st overall. David Wilkinson was next running well in 1h.44.39 and close behind was Charlie Satterly, who recorded an excellent personal best time of 1h.45.42. First female for the club was Tracey Bruce, with a fine run of 1h.50.56, followed by Carole Wilkinson who picked up first veteran 50 place with a strong run of 1h.54.01. Next was Michelle Whitton in 2h.06.03, followed by Liz Hickingbottom in 2h.14.35.
