Race Report: Bath Skyline 10km @ Avon, UK, 18th November 2012

This race report from the Bath Skyline 10K was sent to us from the organiser, Tom Room:

A beautiful crisp morning greeted runners at the first of the Skyline 10km events of the winter. A new route for 2012 brought runners the chance to enjoy a little of every type of terrain; open fields, gravel track, woodland trail and in true Relish Running Races style; plenty of mud and some cheeky hills.

Relish regular Peter Mikolas lead from the front, after having run to the event, and recorded a winning time of 43:47 on a generously long 10km course. Two minutes later, four runners crossed the line in quick succession in search of the remaining podium sports, which were awarded to Richard Spear and Jason Harrison.

In the ladies competition, Team Bath AC runner Jennifer Carter lead home the field with a top 10 placing overall and in a time of 49:35 and over five minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Alongside the 10km was a 5km run with many runners using this as a stepping stone to a 10km later in the series.

The day’s events culminated in the kids 300m run, for the athletes of the future. The young runners emulated the 10km race with a satisfying run through the mud and sprint across the finish line to collect their medals in Olympic colours.

The next race in the Bath Skyline 10km Series is on the 16th December – click here for more details.

A big thank you to all the marshals and first aiders who helped make the event possible, as well as our event sponsors Running Home, O2 Creation and Thrive Active.
