The Annual Cross Country Event, organised by Camberley Athletics Club, was held on Sunday 17th November at the Frimley Fuel Allotments in Old Bisley Road, Camberley. It was a good dry day, not too cold – fortunate, given our weather over the last month! Over 150 runners took part in various races from the Under 9 age group through to Adults. There were club teams – some from as far as Reigate and Herne Hill, school teams and individual entries.
Mark Symes from Camberley and District Athletics Club won the senior men’s race with a time of 34 minutes 39 seconds. John Taylor from Herne Hill finished second and Craig Berryman from Havant finished in third place.
Camberley AC won the team event.
The Senior Ladies race was won by Laura Hales from Windle Valley in 26 minutes 59 seconds – her team mates Jo Obertell and Sabic Ei-Bacha finished second and third respectively, making Windle Valley obviously the team winners, too.
Across all the age groups, there was success for teams from Camberley, Crawley Ridge, Reigate and Herne Hill.
