On May 12th the Second ‘Tour’ General 10K run took place on the outskirts of Winchester at the Matterley Bowl. Set on the beautiful South Downs, circa 350 race participants congregated for possibly the
best challenge of 2013!
With 3 races 10k, an obstacle and carrying a ‘rifle’, at 10.00hrs The General started with racers due to do battle. An exciting course awaited them with testing hills, a challenging moto cross circuit and 10
obstacles including 2 x Chieftan Tanks.
After mud, blood, sweat and tears the following elite crossed the line – 10k fastest male Ian Thompson, female Dianne Jordan – Obstacle fastest male Matthew King female Hannah Hickman – ‘Rifle’ fastest
male Louis Gates female Val Coombs. A great race to add to your diary for 2014
Val Coombs came first last year and again this year quoted – What an AMAZING COURSE !!! That was absolutely brilliant…
Another Veteran quotes – Having had time to reflect on this morning, I can say that The General is my favourite race of the season. A veteran of two Generals, this is better, tougher and more friendlier
than The Grim, Hell Runner and even the Basingstoke Half. Can’t wait for next year!
